Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries following a Delta jet from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia experienced significant turbulence this past Friday.

Delta Flight 41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a representative for the carrier told. Four flight attendants required medical attention.

Local paramedics stated they evaluated five individuals, and transported a trio to the hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised back pain and headaches. The patients' ages were between their 30s up to the 70s.

This marks the latest incident of aircraft being hit by atmospheric disturbance, with researchers indicating that global warming is a key driver.

There were nearly 250 travelers and 15 crew members on the aircraft, the Delta spokesperson added, stating that the plane landed "safely and normally" at the airport at 06:48 local time on Friday morning.

The NSW Ambulance Service said they were alerted just a mere three minutes before the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were standing by on the runway.
