Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place recently, and through an impressive show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the most decorated winner. This surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with honors for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Complementing the developer's achievements, its talented actors also were honored with individual awards. Jennifer English received Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his acting as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself received Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved 7 awards during the ceremony.
Other notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Premier PC Title. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the audience, with only four awards—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—determined by reviewers.
