Flight operations have resumed at Edinburgh Airport after a significant ATC system failure halted all operations.

Every arrival and departure were stopped due to an technical fault that arose around 08:30.

Some passengers found themselves stranded in jets at the stand during the disruption.

Services Recommence with Continued Disruption

Officials announced at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "patience and understanding".

However, ongoing issues are anticipated to persist for some time. Services bound for London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been axed, with many others facing hold-ups.

Officials had previously estimated that a significant number of movements could be affected.

"Travelers are urged to check directly with their airline for the latest information on their specific flights," officials reiterated.

Cause of the Chaos

Officials linked the widespread suspension to an IT issue with its ATC service provider.

Flyers are still being urged to check the status of their journey before traveling to the terminal as backlogs are worked through.
